Why Juice?

Many health coaches preach the health benefits of juicing. The process of juicing removes the insoluble fiber from vegetables and fruits, which leads to increased absorption of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. It’s also a great way to consume the required amounts of fruits and vegetables every day.

Many nutritionists recommend eating between six and eight servings of fruits and vegetables per day. That can be a lot for some people.

“So juicing can turn those eight servings into one tall glass of juice in the morning.”

Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet. They contain numerous vitamins and minerals that keep our body running smoothly. Juicing can also help boost your immune system by giving your body a super dose of those vitamins that keep you healthy.

Why Masticating?

Unfortunately, you can’t make good juice in a blender. You need a special juicing machine that can break down the whole fruit and turn it into juice. There are many types of juicers on the market. One of the most popular types is a masticating juicer.

“A Masticating juicer works slightly different than other juicers.”

It spins slowly and crushes the fruits and vegetables through its single gear and blade. Due to the single blade and gear, masticating juicers reduce the chances if oxidation, or the chemical reaction that damages your juice.

The Best Masticating Juicers we Tested

We tested a range of masticating juicers to determine which were the best buys. We evaluated each juicer on its design, quality of juice, and cleaning ease. Because no likes to clean a juicer.

#1 Kuvings Whole Slow Jucier B6000S

The Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer is a vertical masticating juicer similar to many other brands, but with one huge different – it has a three-inch feed chute. If you’ve ever juiced before you know that is a big deal.

No need to cut fruit or veggies. Just stick them down the chute and you’ll have juice in no time. The Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer can make everything from vitamin-rich juices to nut butters to frozen fruit sorbet.

There is nothing worst than cleaning a juicer after it has been used. The screen can take forever to scrub and properly clean. Kuvings was smart and designed a special automatic screen cleaning tool that spins and cleans the screen in no time. It’s seriously awesome. The other parts of the juicer just require a little rinse and you’re good to go for the next time.

The only negative about the Kuvings that we could find, which was hard to do, was that some juices were a bit pulpier. If you’re not a fan of pulp then we recommend purchasing a small strainer to strain the juice before drinking.

The only negative is the feed chute is small and fruits and vegetables need to be cut before feeding. The Omega J8006 is a good buy at this listing. It also includes a 15-year warranty so you’ll definitely get your money’s worth.

#3 Hurom HU-100

The Hurom HU-100 looks more like a small centrifugal juicer, but it is actual a single auger, double squeeze style towering masticating juicer. The machine is designed with a wide-mouth chute, but a small spout. It has a special screen and its unique wiper system does clean the screen effectively. If you’re looking to travel with your juicer, the Hurom HU-100 is designed to travel. It is also extremely quiet.

Hurom uses a slightly different method of squeezing juice than other juicers. It combines a cold-pressing system and their patented Slow Squeezing Technology to extract more juice and to preserve the natural taste and nutrients. It is a versatile machine allowing you to make a wide range of food items like juice, milks, marinades, and baby food.

The Hurom HU-100 produces a good quality juice similar to other juicers. You can easily juice whole oranges, tangerines, and lemons. Even pineapple worked! The juice was smooth with little to no pulp.  However, The Hurom didn’t handle nuts well so we don’t recommend using the Hurom HU-100 for making nut butters.

Retailing for a relatively affordable price, the Hurom HU-100 juicer is an above-average juicer that produces good juice, is extremely quiet, and compact.
