Mirror vs OxeFit

Mirror vs OxeFit Compared: The At-Home Gym Battle Is On!

When I looked for alternatives to going to the gym a while back, I was overwhelmed by all the at-home gym solutions, of which fitness mirrors (like Mirror vs OxeFit) are merely one option.

The Mirror and its competitors caught my eye – after all, the Mirror looks super sleek and sexy. As I dove into my research to find out which home gym is the best for me, I came across an intriguing and beautiful option: the OxeFit. But is the OxeFit better than the Mirror

I thought I should make a detailed comparison to find a winner. One comparison was the Mirror and OxeFit. Honestly, it wasn’t an easy decision, but the pros and cons spoke volumes. Data doesn’t lie, right?

So here’s the Mirror vs OxeFit compared if you want to buy an at-home fitness solution.

Bottom Line Up Front: Which One Is Best, Mirror or OxeFit?

If you are in a hurry and want to know who’s the winner in the fitness battle between Mirror and OxeFit, I declare the winner is:

The Mirror!

Why?

  • More affordable; Mirror Pro and Mirror Family cost less than half (or almost) what OxeFit’s XS1 costs
  • Many more fitness class choices
  • Smaller footprint; the Mirror is ideal for small apartments or if you rent (since it only weighs 70 pounds)

Main Differences between Mirror and OxeFit

The main differences between Mirror and OxeFit are:

  • The Mirror looks like a fitness mirror, whereas the OxeFit XS1 looks like a high-tech gym machine with a built-in fitness mirror.
  • The Mirror has four fitness mirror models (Basic, Essentials, Pro, and Family) and each comes with more accessories, whereas the OxeFit comes in two models (XS1 and XP1) and there are various configurations.
  • The Mirror has a larger display screen of 43” (not a touchscreen, unfortunately), whereas OxeFit has a smaller 32” touchscreen.
  • The Mirror weighs 70 pounds, so while it’s heavy and shouldn’t be moved willy-nilly, the OxeFit XS1 weighs 300 pounds, so it’s pretty much stuck where it’s delivered and assembled.
  • The Mirror offers 10,000+ fitness classes and programs, whereas OxeFit only has 250+ strength training and 6 cardio workouts.

3 Other Fitness Mirror Alternatives to Consider

If you aren’t convinced that Mirror or OxeFit is right for you, I’ve got 3 other fitness mirror alternatives you should consider.

1. NordicTrack Vault

The NordicTrack Vault is a freestanding touchscreen fitness mirror. I love that NordicTrack Vault’s fitness mirrors come in two models so you can choose the one that works best for your needs.

nordictrack vault

The NordicTrack Vault Standalone model retails at $1,999. The only extra cost here is your iFit membership. You get one year of membership on the iFit Family Plan with the Vault purchase. Afterward, opt for an iFit Individual Plan ($180 per year) or an iFit Family Plan ($396 per year).

Here’s what you get with the Standalone model:

  • 60” fitness mirror with 32” HD touchscreen display, speakers, and Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Adjustable shelves so you can store your fitness equipment in the Vault
  • A microfiber towel to wipe off unsightly fingerprints, other dirt, and dust

The other model is the NordicTrack Vault Complete, which retails at $2,999. Similar to the Standalone model, you get a year’s iFit membership, and then you must sign up to iFit.

With the Complete model, you get:

  • The same as the Standalone model
  • An exercise mat
  • Resistance bands and loop bands
  • Yoga blocks
  • Kettlebells
  • Dumbbells

The NordicTrack Vault Standalone is ideal if you prefer to use your own equipment. Even if you don’t have your own equipment, you can easily buy dumbbells, kettlebells, yoga blocks, and more.

Pros

  • 16,000+ on-demand and live classes and 158 built-in classes for a variety of workouts
  • Durable; the frame is made from carbon steel
  • When you travel, you can still exercise – use iFit on your other smart devices
  • Fitness equipment is stored neatly in one place
  • Small footprint; freestanding Vault doesn’t take up lots of space

Cons

  • It’s just a mirror without an iFit membership
  • Display is relatively small compared to that of other fitness mirrors

2. Tonal

Tonal is ideal for strength-training workouts since the fitness mirror comes with 200 pounds of digital resistance. The smart home gym machine uses dynamic weight technology to help customize your workouts. How?

home gym tonal

When you first start exercising with Tonal, the machine completes a strength assessment. It gives you comprehensive analytics you can use to tailor your workouts and meet your fitness goals. Tonal also adjusts the weight with every move and rep, ensuring you perform optimally.

The Tonal fitness mirror costs $2,995, and you can add Smart Accessories for $496. I think this is worth it since the smart gear is attached using T-lock adapters, and I wouldn’t want to buy these adapters and self-attach my equipment to Tonal.

The Smart Accessories include:

  • A workout mat
  • Smart handles
  • A smart bar
  • A tricep rope
  • A workout bench
  • A foam roller

You also need to subscribe to access the workouts; it’ll cost you $49 per month.

Pros

  • Personalized workouts, live and on-demand classes, and various workout styles (HIIT, yoga, cardio, and more)
  • Automatic weight suggestions
  • Exercise form guidance and feedback
  • Keeps you safe and injury-free with the virtual “spotter”
  • Tracks your sets and reps, power, and range of motion, so you know where you need to improve

Cons

  • Gets pricey if you add the Smart Accessories, but it’s a worthwhile investment
  • Display is “small” at 24”
  • Delivery and assembly aren’t included in the purchase price

3. Echelon Reflect Touch

Echelon has two smart mirrors you can choose from. There’s the Echelon Reflect, which retails at $749.99, and the Echelon Reflect Touch, which costs double at $1,499.99. You also need a Premium Membership at $399.99 per annum to access the workouts.

Echelon Reflect Touch

There are only two differences between the two Echelon fitness mirror models. Reflect has a bigger 40” display and Reflect Touch has a smaller 32” display, and only Reflect Touch has a touchscreen display.

Pros

  • 40+ live classes every day, 60+ instructors, and 3,000+ on-demand workouts
  • Can choose a personal trainer
  • You need to monitor your form by seeing what the trainer does and self-correct
  • See real-time data like heart rate, calories burned, and goals

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with equipment or an option to buy fitness equipment from Echelon
  • Need to mount the Echelon fitness mirror to a wall, but the machine has a zero-footprint design

Mirror vs OxeFit FAQs

Question: What fitness mirrors compete with the Mirror?

Answer: There are various fitness mirror competitors for the Mirror:
NordicTrack Vault: the solution if you don’t want to get bored with 16,000+ classes
Tonal: great for customized workouts and exercise form feedback
Tempo Studio: ideal for storing fitness equipment and performance tracking
Echelon Reflect: perfect for 3,000+ workouts and new daily live classes
OxeFit: all-in-one solution for all kinds of training and built-in safety features

Question: Can instructors see you when you use the Mirror for training?

Answer: The Mirror comes equipped with a camera and speakers that lets an instructor see and talk to you during personal training sessions. Even though the instructor isn’t standing next to you like at a gym, it’ll feel like they are there, motivating you and giving you real-time feedback.

Question: How much do fitness mirrors cost?

Answer: The price of fitness mirrors range from budget-friendly to super expensive. On the low prince end is the Echelon Reflect ($749.99). The mid-range fitness mirrors (Mirror Basic, Mirror Essentials, Mirror Pro, Echelon Reflect Touch, and ProFrom Vue) cost between $1,000 and $2,000.

Tonal, OxeFit XS1, and Tempo Studio cost between $2,000 and $4,000, while OxeFit XP1, the professional at-home gym fitness mirror machine, is expensive at more than $40,000.

My Final Thoughts on the Winner: Mirror or OxeFit?

After a lot of deliberation, I had to make a decision. The Mirror won this round.

The Mirror has an ultra-sleek design and it’s affordable. (No robbing a gold mine required!)

I also get bored easily. While choosing from 10,000+ exercises is overwhelming when I feel indecisive, I know there’s always something new (#liveclasses). Plus, I love the one-on-one attention from real-life trainers via the Mirror – something OxeFit doesn’t offer.
